Procuring open source is not like procuring closed source. There are many more options available to the customer including:

* Full Outsourcing - purchase the complete product, including installation and maintenance from a third party * Partial Outsourcing - purchase a product from a third party but maintain ownership of some aspects, such as maintenance * Bespoke Customisations - purchase third party customisations to open source systems * Internal Customisation - develop customisations to open source systems * Internal Management - developm, maintain and host the full system internally

Unless one fully understands how open source is developed and managed it is hard to evaluate the options available. This page is for people wanting to learn more about procuring open source. Please ask any questions you have via this page.

* Is open source secure?
