JISC Progress Report
This is our contribution to the JISC progress report, covering the Oxford work packages as of 20060326.
1. Work Package 1B
1B(1) Done powerpoint
1B(2) In progress. Shib aware portal in progress, probably on course for May 2006 completion. We propose to not attempt Shib enabling of portlets at this time because two of the critical dependencies for this will not be available on the expected timeframe, specifically Shibboleth 2 constrained delegation and a stable implementation of WSRP4J.
1B(3) Investigations in progress. See SakaiVre/ShibbolethInstallNotes-20060322 and ShibbolethNotes.
1B(4) Not started.
1B(5) Not started.
2. Work Package 2A
2A(1) Done. Currently migrating to a publicly visible install. See overview of SAKAI at SakaiNotes.
2A(2) In progress. Materials collected but not yet presented in a coherent form.
2A(3) Nearing completion. See SakaiVre/SearchDataModelling and SakaiVre/BioinformaticSearchRequirements
2A(4) In progress.
2A(5) Not started.
2A(6) Not started. At risk due to uncertainty of future of WSRP4J project.
3. Other Work
We have also developed considerable notes and documentation in the wiki we are using (http://wiki.oss-watch.ac.uk/SakaiVre), this includes a number of technical documents not listed in the deliverables (particularly ProblemsWithPortals). We presented at the Portsmouth SAKAI VRE meeting (see presentation above), attended Lancaster kick-off meeting and attended the Oxford VRE meeting. Graham has also been to Bristol to coordinate the reuse of some of JISC's previous Shib investment and is actively developing links to the life sciences research program in Zoology at Oxford.
